Walk for the Wild 5k Challenge at NSNWR - Newton Daily News

The Friends of Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge will host a local Walk for the Wide 5k Challenge from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge in Prairie City. Walk for the Wild supports National Wildlife Refuges and their nonprofit partners while striving to get people moving a distance of 5K (or 3.1 miles) in nature during National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 8-15, 2022.

Walkers can register for free and join 'Team Tallgrass' for the 5k Challenge. Participants who attend the walk at the Refuge will receive a limited edition gift. Those unable to attend at the Refuge may participate by walking anywhere worldwide Oct. 15 in support of the event. Donations made to support this Walk for the Wild event will benefit the Friends of Neal Smith NWR's mission and, thanks to the support of national donors and the Public Lands Alliance, a portion of each gift will be matched.

Participant registration and donation information can be found at https://support.americaswildliferefuges.org/team/444121.
