10 Medium Dog Breeds That Are Just The Right Size

If you're looking for medium dog breeds, you've come to the right place. Whether you're in an apartment and can't get a big dog or don't want a dog small enough to fit in your pocketbook, there are tons of medium-sized dog breeds that would be the perfect fit for your family.
Medium-sized dogs are usually between 20 and 60 pounds and eight and 30 inches tall. Again, they aren't too big, but aren't too small - they're *just right* as Goldilocks would say. Medium breeds include working dogs and hunting dogs of various temperaments and energy levels, so keep that in mind when considering a medium dog breed. Every dog breed is different, and every dog within that breed has its own personality and backstory.

Consider if you want a calm dog, a low maintenance dog, or a dog suited to apartment living—though big dogs make surprisingly good family dogs, too. Additionally, parents must remember that nothing can replace careful monitoring of the child with the pet and good training, she notes. Before you bring a dog home, make sure you have all the items on this puppy checklist.
"The Cavalier King Charles spaniel is a wonderful family pet; a gentle, calm dog, who is happy to be combed and brushed," says Dr. Emmett on why this pup is one of the best dogs for kids and best family dogs, period. "This breed is, however, less enthusiastic about games, such as tug of war, and rough-and-tumble play. King Charles spaniels are a good match for a more urban lifestyle and a sensitive child." According to the dog expert, one of them loves to snuggleCredit: TIKTOK/@americanstandardk9TikTok user AmericanStandardK9 (@americanstandardk9), who claimed to be the best dog trainer online, took to TikTok to share his list of the top three smaller breeds of dogs that'd be the perfect addition to your home.
The Yorkshire TerrierThe first small dog that had made it in the video was the Yorkshire Terrier - also known as the 'Yorkie'.
''We've trained several of them through our programme and they're very small.''
Describing these adorable pups, the pro insisted they were super eager to learn, to train and the best part - to cuddle.

The PomeranianDuring his years of training these furry four-legged friends, the expert's met a number of Pomeranians.
One of the most recent ones in their programme was a pup named Snow, an all-white Pomeranian that had been imported from Thailand.
''She's a very expensive dog but she also loves to snuggle on the couch, loves to be carried and we also trained her to be off-leash.''

The Miniature SchnauzerLast but certainly not least was the mini Schnauzer, a breed to pro has dealt with quite a few times as well.
Sharing his experience, the whizz said: ''They are very robust, They are very tough for their small size.''
Despite their tough character, he insisted that these fluffy pups can be easily managed and even handled by smaller children who might drop a puppy by mistake.
''We don't want any puppies being dropped. But the mini Schnauzer is tougher compared to all these other ones.
''Again, you can train them to a very high level.''
Fellow dog fans flocked to comments and some shared their picks.
''Miniature Schnauzers are the best. Intelligent, robust, and very trainable. Mine is off leash trained and does great!'' wrote one person.
Someone else noted: ''I love my yorkies but the [they] are stubborn!''
