Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital, Animal Emergency & Critical Care Leverage CareCorrals In Enhancing Pet And Horse-Centric Family Healing

AUSTIN, Texas, May 31, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital (Canobie), Animal Emergency & Critical Care (AECC) and PrizedPals announced today ongoing successes associated with PrizedPals' signature platform, "The CareCorral, a Barnyard of Love and Empathy".

CareCorrals Landing Page, Cannobie Lake Veterinary Hospital: https://canobievet.Com/CareCorrals/)

As in the brief video on Canobie or AECC's website, a CareCorral is an online "caring community."  It is created and operated by a family and invited loved ones and contains an interactive storytelling solution, collaboration calendar, community blog, photo/video-sharing capabilities and more.  It is compelling throughout any pet-healing or aging journey, chronic or cognitive illness, or even celebrating their memory.  It strengthens how loved ones:

  • Rally-round, engage and support

  • Are empowered more with empathy, than sympathy

  • Perceive veterinary organizations as fostering community and quality of life

  • Adds PrizedPals founder, Jay Drayer, "Now into its 7th year, CareCorrals were borne from a lengthy caregiving journey surrounding a family pet.  In time with a difficult diagnosis, caregiving came out of left field, when least expected.  It required constant attention and work to organize support.  When loved ones weren't receiving updates, they kept inquiring.  Friends repeatedly asked, 'How can we help?' yet engagement remained consistently thin.  Emotional barriers and concerns about intrusiveness remained part of the social landscape with loved ones.  Caregivers need respite but grow weary expecting it.  All the uncertainty between veterinary appointments devastates your resilience.  CareCorrals were created to enhance the quality and durability of how loved ones engage and support."

Adds Dr. Melissa Magnuson, founder/owner, Canobie Lake, Greenland and All Pets Veterinary Hospitals, "Forward-thinking veterinary practices view their role in broader, more holistic ways than has traditionally been the case.  CareCorrals advance our mission, core values and mindset for caring for the 'whole family' which is compelling to how people bond with our organizations.  We tend to be 'high-touch' and we value how CareCorrals exemplify the ways that we support families and our commitment to innovation."

    Story continues

Adds Deanna Bayless, Hospital Manager, AECC, "Quality care comes first in our organization and each CareCorral elevates that commitment even higher.  We have been offering CareCorrals for almost 5 years, and continue being pleasantly surprised by the tens-of-thousands of people using them.  Most impressively, many families use them in 'upstream' circumstances, surrounding every imaginable manner of healing among both pets and loved ones.  Seeing the growth of families and communities using CareCorrals, we know people find them helpful and even needed."

About PrizedPalsPrizedPals offers CareCorrals, a veterinary derivative of a longstanding healthcare solution (Careopolis, A Metropolis of Love and Empathy) which, now into its 19th year benefits Texas Oncology, Community Medical Centers, Austin Regional Clinic, Rogue Prosthetics, Home Instead Senior Living and hundreds of other organizations.  Now into CareCorrals' 7th year, they have a strong reputation for empowering organizations who appreciate the importance of aligning their brands with empathy, nostalgia and quality-of-life.

About Canobie Lake, Greenland and All Pets Veterinary HospitalsGrowing-up on a farm in Minnesota gave founder/owner Dr. Melissa Magnuson a strong sense of family and awareness that it takes a village to achieve common goals.  With a lifelong passion for caring for animals she dreamed of being a veterinarian and, after college, created vaccines to save animals.  From there, completing veterinary school, later launching three veterinary practices which all offer CareCorrals.

About Animal Emergency & Critical Care (AECC)AECC is a full-service emergent care facility that is an extension of local veterinary hospitals. They provide care for critical patients with access to emergency care 24 hours a day.

Ursula And More Pets Up For Adoption In Phoenix-area Shelters This Week

Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.

Gemini and Her Horoscopes: Could be part of your future

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Part of the Arizona Humane Society's mission is to save the most vulnerable animals. Caring for sick, injured and abused pets that other shelters simply cannot is what helps save thousands more lives each year. Lives like Gemini and her Horoscopes who without AHS' Mutternity Suites, would not have been able to be saved.

For those unfamiliar, AHS' Mutternity Suites is a specialized area for pregnant and nursing mama dogs to receive medical care in a quiet, separated area from the rest of the shelter until they are cleared to go into a Foster Hero home for additional care. Gemini, a 3-year-old German Shepherd, and her nine 4-week-old puppies, are just a few of upwards of 500 mom dogs and underaged puppies that will be saved this year thanks to it.

This sweet family came to the Arizona Humane Society earlier this month after being found as strays with Gemini being underweight but still caring for her babies as best as she could. Right now, AHS is in need of loving Foster Heroes to take this family in until the pups are old enough to be separated from mama and eating on their own. With almost 700 pets currently in a Foster Hero home and dozens more needing foster each day, there is a huge need for additional fosters to help AHS' homeless pets.

How to foster: It is easy to become an AHS Foster Hero and the shelter provides everything you need from training to all the supplies, food, medical checkups and more. By bringing in a foster pet(s), you allow AHS to continue caring for even more of our community's pets in need that have nowhere else to go by opening up much-needed kennel space. For more information on how to become a Foster Hero, visit azhumane.Org/foster to take the online orientation and apply.

    Woody: Curious about the world

Woody seems to be a cat that will never have the wool pulled over his eyes!

This 5-year-old black and white tuxedo is curious about everything that goes on around him. A little shy at first, he's sweet as can be and warms up quickly.

Woody was surrendered to Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue because he did not get along with the other three cats in the home. Since then, he has been in contact with several other cats and there has been no indication that he has a problem fitting in.

Hot to adopt: Visit him at 11129 Michigan Ave., Youngtown. Call 623-876-8778 from 10 a.M.-3 p.M. Tuesdays-Saturdays, also adoption days. Other adoptable cats can be seen at the shelter, 10807 N. 96th Ave., Peoria, call 623-773-2246, same hours and days, and Surprise PetSmart, 13764 Bell Road.

    Ursula: Not the sea witch

While she is much cuter than her namesake, this 6-year-old Border Terrier mix is very excited to finally be "part of your world" once she finds her forever home! Ursula may not know much about life under the sea but she certainly can rock the most adorable curly que, bowtie combination!

Ursula found herself in the care of the Arizona Humane Society in early May after she was found as a sick stray by a Good Samaritan. The petite pup presented with a distended abdomen and uterus, along with discharge and diarrhea. Upon examination by AHS trauma hospital veterinarians, it was found that was suffering from a condition called Pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus that can cause death if not treated. Yet another reminder of the importance and benefits of spaying and neutering pets.

After her emergency surgery to remove her uterus, Ursula also received a dental to ensure her teeth were in great shape. All throughout her care with AHS, it was found that she can be quite shy and nervous of people. However, after working with the shelter's Behavior Team, this lovely girl has made "leaps and bounds" in her progress while coming out of her shell. Due to Ursula's tendency to be a bit more reserved, she would benefit from a more calm home with children who are at least 10 years of age and understand the importance of letting her go at her own pace.

How to adopt: Interested adopters can meet the unique Ursula at the Arizona Humane Society's PetSmart Scottsdale location. Her adoption fee includes her spay surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, and a follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital. Visit azhumane.Org/adopt for more information.

    Merriweather: A unique kitty

Merriweather is a domestic, short-haired spayed female tabby cat about 3 years old. She is a sweet, calm tabby girl who has had a few litters of kittens in her lifetime. Fortunately, she was able to secure a foster home with Friends for Life and raise her last babies.

Merriweather was a wonderful mamma but now she is ready for a home of her own. She is a calm and mellow cat and easy to be with. She enjoys looking out the window and ice cubes in her water. She has a funny way of eating — she gets a mouthful of kibble and walks away, then sprinkles it on the floor to eat. Volunteers say she is just a wonderful, sweet cat.

How to adopt: Since she is living in a foster home at Friends for Life Animal Rescue, she is available to meet by appointment. Please contact heidi@azfriends.Org for more information. Merriweather's adoption fee is $175. At Friends for Life Animal Rescue, animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. Cats are tested for FELV/FIV. For more information on Friends for Life or other cats or dogs looking for homes, visit azfriends.Org, call 480-497-8296, or visit their adoption center located at 952 W. Melody Ave. In Gilbert.
