Top 10 Dog Breeds That Could Die Out Are Revealed… With One Of Britain's Most Loved In Danger Of Disappearing Altogether
EVERY dog has its day, but 34 types of pooch in Britain are currently facing extinction, including one immortalised in a comic.
There's also another eight of the at-risk indigenous breeds of dog that are 'At Watch' by the Kennel Club, giving 42 British breeds a precarious future.

Despite being a favourite of Queen Victoria and the most popular dog in the country 100 years ago, there were only 281 Wire Fox Terrier puppies born in 2023.
Fans of the cartoon Tintin would recognise the Wire Fox Terrier as Snowy, the Belgian journalist's loyal and intelligent sidekick.
Births of Wire Fox Terrier puppies have seen a 21% decline from 2022, when 359 puppies were born in the first three quarters of the year.
The Wire Fox Terrier was bred in England by fox hunting fans, its small size was good for getting into burrows and its strong tail was used by hunters to pull it out.
It has also been used to hunt badgers and boars.
Wire Fox Terriers were most popular in 1930s Britain, with many children learning to walk after the War with a model of the terrier on a wheeled frame.
The dogs also have a bit of a mongrel temperament, loving to exercise, chase moving things, and bark.

Queen Victoria's son Edward VII followed in his mother's footsteps and kept a Wire Fox Terrier called Caesar, who tragically died after the monarch.
But 109 years after his death, Caesar's once-popular breed is likely to enter the Kennel Club's 'At Watch' list as the number of births of the English dog declines.
The 'At Watch' list includes breeds with between 300-450 puppy births a year, while the Kennel Club's 'Vulnerable Native Breed' list includes breeds with less than 300 births a year.
But it's not all bad news for the Wire Fox Terrier, with Blanca stealing the show in the terrier group at Crufts this year.
