I Thought I'd Bought A Miniature Dachshund But He Ended Up Being More Like A HORSE – I Still Wouldn't Change Him Though
A WOMAN who bought a dachshund puppy as a "miniature" has been left stunned after he grew into the size of a "horse".
She explained that she'd been sold the canine as a mini breed.

"Me thinking I bought my dachshund as a 'miniature'," she wrote over the top of the clip showing her holding the dog as a nine-week-old puppy.
It then changed to show the pup - called Richmond - on his first birthday.
And he'd drastically changed in size.
"Whose horse is that?" the voiceover said.
Despite his unexpected size difference, Richmond's owner said she "wouldn't change my cumberland sausage for the world" in the video caption.
And she quickly found that other people had found themselves in similar situations.
"Same! We were sold a kennel club registered mini dachshund… someone's lying somewhere because he's no mini," one wrote.

Whenever animals are introduced to a new home, whether they approve of it could go either way.
However, one little Dachshund named Nellie Bean couldn't contain her excitement after her parents brought her to check out their new digs. In a video shared on December 20, we see her tiny legs strut through the front door, and what happens next is total cuteness overload.
How adorable is this? She was just so full of excitement! Judging by her behavior, I think she's more than okay with the new house and all the space, especially the big backyard!

However, while moving to a new home can be exciting, it can also trigger anxiety. Some animals will be a little confused about their new environment.
Following you around, excessive barking and growling, and not eating much could all be signs of a pup feeling anxious in the new home.
That's why it's so important to approach the moving process gently and gradually and look out for signs of distress.
The reaction and duration of adjustment to a new home solely depend on your dog and their past. In other words, if they were rescued, experienced trauma, and already suffer from anxiety, the adjustment period could take a little longer than with a confident dog.
Some pups may even "mark their territory" in a new home due to feeling anxious and stressed. The marking helps them identify things and gives them a sense of familiarity.
To help them adjust, be sure to maintain your dog's feeding and walking routine. Also, place items that are familiar to them, like their bed and toys, in a special spot in the new home where they can retreat to if they need comfort.
Using training treats is another great way for your dog to adjust. You can scatter the treats throughout the new home and hide them so your dog can familiarize themselves with every corner of the house while searching for the treats.
With a little patience, time, and understanding, eventually, your pup will warm up to the new abode and settle right in.

Hayley Ashford from Final Stop Rescue said: "She's not got a care in the world - you wouldn't think anything had happened to her.
"She had just been transported 3,800 kilometres via seven countries, but before the van doors opened at the other end, her foster mother could hear her tail wagging.

Poppy is very sociable with everyone and loves to eat and play.
Her forever home must have a secure garden and her foster family has suggested she would be much happier if she had another dog to play with.
Final Stop Rescue has helped save around 2,800 dogs from Romania - many of which were abandoned in the same way as Poppy.
