Janesville Police Release More Information About Vicious Dogs

Janesville Police are releasing more information about an incident earlier this week where an officer had to shoot a dog that was attacking him.

According to a news release, the owner of the two German Shepherds that were running loose on Wednesday was previously issued a warning about their dogs running at large.

The owner installed a fence, but it appears one of the dogs was able to manipulate the latch mechanism and open the gate.

While an officer shot one of the dogs that bit him, the other dog was tased and taken to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin where it was later claimed by its owner.

Janesville Police say the dog's owner was cited for dog running at large Friday morning.

2-year-old Dog Rescued After Being Abandoned, Tied Up To Fence By Owners In Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A female mixed-breed canine is getting some much-needed care after it was found abandoned and tied up to a fence by its owners. Fortunately, some animal lovers came to the rescue.

The dog was found tied to the fence in an empty field in the area of Northwest 16th Court and 24th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

"The photo was horrific," said Rebecca Krakow, who rescued the dog. "The dog looked completely starved like skin and bones."

The dog, now named Pearl, was severely malnourished and was so weak that she was barely able to hold her head up. She was abandoned and left to die and probably would have if the picture showing her condition was not posted to social media on Saturday.

"We saw it Saturday evening, and we just jumped in the car and went," Krakow said.

Krakow and her mother are used to rescuing cats but weren't about to let this dog continue to suffer.

"I was like 'Do you wanna go save a dog?' and she was like 'Yes definitely,'" said Krakow. "You could see all of her ribs and I think the worst is her hip bones. It just looked like she was starved — horribly, horribly starved."

With the help of Zen Haven Barn Pet Rescue, the 2-year-old pup is now getting treatment to try and save her.

"We even got confirmation from the vet that she had rocks in her stool, so she had been eating rocks, she wasn't eating anything," she said.

Now the race is on to save her life. Pearl was given a blood transfusion and is now eating small meals throughout the day.

"Her chances of pulling through were slim, so we are still praying for her to get through this," Krakow said.

Pearl's vet bill has racked up into the thousands. Krakow is raising funds and is searching for a rescue that has experience with abused and neglected dogs.

Krakow said Pearl is already starting to trust those helping her as if she knows they are on her side.

"She wants you to sit down with her and be real quiet," said Krakow. "She's becoming a big softie. Someone is going to see her story and give her the love and the life that she deserves."

The person who first found Pearl told police that the original owner contacted her on social media on Saturday and told her where she planned to dump the dog.

The case is now under investigation by Fort Lauderdale Police. A police report has been filed.

A GoFundMe was created to assist with Pearl's medical expenses.

Anxious Jumping Dog Who Can Clear Six-foot Fences Is In Need Of A New Home

Yuki - whose name means 'lucky' in Japanese - hasn't been so fortunate in finding a home after being with the canine carers at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury.

But now the charity is launching a third bid to find a sofa for the three-year-old to claim as her own.

Yuki's ability to continually leap over six-foot garden fences might not have been such a problem, but she was also quite anxious when meeting new people and other dogs.

Patient trainers at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury now think she is now ready to one giant leap for dog-kind and find that forever family with the right skills and talents to help her live her best life.

Thomas Livings, the Assistant Manager of Dogs Trust Shrewsbury, said: "Given what we knew about Yuki, we expected her to be a confident dog but that didn't prove to be the case.

"We quickly recognised that she was quite anxious when meeting new people and other dogs so since coming into our care our expert training team have been working with her and she is now much more settled and has proved to be a training star.

"She can now mix with other dogs which is great to see, and as long as people are patient with her and let her go at her own pace, and have a tasty treat or toy on offer, she steadily grows in confidence and bonds really well with people."

The team say Yuki is an active, clever, and loving companion who will keep you on your toes whilst showering you with love and affection.

She would like a calm adult-only, pet free home with owners who are happy to carry on with her training, helping her expand her skills to keep her mentally stimulated.

Thomas adds: "Yuki will make a lovely, rewarding pet.

"She is great fun and loves learning new things so training sessions with her will be enjoyable for both her and her adoptive family.

"She is a bundle of energy and faces each day with enthusiasm, eager to head out on a long walk to explore new places.

"We did at one time think we had found Yuki a forever family but sadly that didn't work out so now we're hoping it's third time lucky, and she truly lives up to her name."

Yuki will benefit from meeting her adopters a few times at the centre to build a bond before heading home.

If you think you could make Yuki's dreams, come true and provide her with a forever home, find out more at the Dogs Trust Shrewsbury website.
