A woman who treated her pitbull like her child was mauled to death by the dog in her own home as her desperate husband tried to separate them.
Jeriline Brady-McGinnis, 73, was gruesomely killed by her dog in the Roxbury area of Boston yesterday. Her husband and two Boston police officers were also reportedly injured as they tried to handle the dog. All four were rushed to the hospital, but Mrs Brady-McGinnis, described as having a heart of gold, died in surgery, her friend Jean McGuire told WBZ News.
"She got attacked some way and they ripped her arm," Ms McGuire, 93, said. "She's very close to her animals, almost like children, I think. She took good care of them. She walked them every day."

Mrs Brady-McGinnis' family remembered her as someone who had a "heart of gold." Last week the Daily Mirror reported how a mum was left horrified when her daughter returned from a play date covered in blood from a dog attack has hit out after the beast was allowed to live.
The Mirror is calling for these changes: 1. The overhaul of the Dangerous Dogs Act . An urgent review of the law is needed and tougher penalties should be considered. 2. Enforce the rules to stop the illegal and irresponsible breeding and selling of dogs. 3. A public information campaign to promote the importance of responsible dog ownership and the need for training.Rosie Dempster, aged 5, was savaged by the pit bull-type beast while she was playing round at her friend's house on September 11. The out-of-control dog ripped into the little girl's face, resulting in wounds to her mouth, eye and ear as she played on a swing in the garden of the family home in northern Glasgow.
Mum Gillian Dempster recalled the sickening moment her daughter was returned home to her, with blood pouring from her wounds. The 40-year-old said: "Rose appeared at the door with her wee pal's mum and I almost collapsed at the sight of her. She was covered in blood.
"I screamed, but I must have been in shock because I immediately went into survival mode and took Rose inside and phoned an ambulance. The woman told me the dog had jumped on her but she didn't say anything about it biting her or anything.
"But Rose told me the dog escaped from the house and charged towards her. Then it pinned her down and clamped it's jaws on her head. She was shaking and just kept repeating that the dog had bitten her. I started to wipe the blood off her face but I saw that her ear was hanging by a thread."

Adopting a pet is a life changing thing for the humans who are bringing a new addition into their family. Adjusting your home to accommodate a brand new member, getting used to each other, and in some occasions, even training a new pup can be a lot of hard work and effort, but in the end, it's always worth it. Because no matter how much our lives as humans change in the process, it's nothing compared to the major life changes that are coming for the pups who have finally found their forever homes — and so much of it is so overwhelmingly positive.
The TikTok video below perfectly illustrates those positive changes. We get to see how a rescue Pit Bull thrived in his first month in his forever home, and it's clear this is absolutely the right place for him to be.
On Friday, November 8, @brittmanifesting shared this look back with her Pit Bull puppy, Bubby. As far as I can tell, he's really loving his new environment, even if he did seem a bit nervous and unsure at first.
It seems like he settled into the cuddling and comfy couch lifestyle just as soon as he arrived (what dog wouldn't?) and quickly came to love car rides, his new toys, and even going out on a boat with his mom. This is so much better than any life he could have lived in a shelter!
"He is the best dog I've ever met and I'm so grateful we found each other," his mom wrote in her caption. "His personality is coming out more and more every day."
He really does look so happy and at peace. What an angel!
Bubby's story is a pretty unique one. In early October, his mom took him in as a foster dog during Hurricane Milton, but just a few days later, she'd decided that he was never leaving — and after seeing that face, I truly cannot blame her for that!
And the internet fell in love with him too, which means that people from all over pitched in to make sure that Bubby had all the supplies he needed to be able to stay with his new mom. There really are good people in this world, if you know where to look for them.
Since then, they both seem to have found a new routine, and it really is beautiful to see the way Bubby is thriving.
Rescuing dogs really does make such a difference. Congrats to Bubby on finding his forever home!
Woman, 73, Mauled To Death By Her Own Pit Bull At Her Home As Husband Tried To Help
A 73-year-old woman was attacked and killed by her own pit bull at her Boston home.
Jeriline Brady-McGinnis, from Massachusetts, was killed on Monday (18 November) afternoon after the dog, named Buddha, launched a vicious attack at 4:30pm.
Her husband and two police officers were also injured in the incident, which occurred outside the home, though police confirmed they had 'non-life threatening injuries'.
According to investigators, her husband had tried to save her and the officers from the dog. Meanwhile, Buddha was later shot and put down, according to Boston Animal Control.
Since the devastating attack, Jeriline's friends and family have spoken out about the 73-year-old.
Her friend and landlord, Jean McGuire, told WBZ: "She got attacked some way and they ripped her arm," adding that Jeriline had died in surgery.
She continued: "She's very close to her animals, almost like children, I think. She took good care of them. She walked them every day.
"I lost my sister. She's a sister. She's a wonderful person, very generous, very loving person, loved animals."
Meanwhile, Jeriline's children, Chris, Ronald and Donald, said: "Our mother was a loving and caring mother. She put her children first... The heart and soul of our family is gone."

McGuire further told the outlet that they had 'too many dogs' and 'put them in cages'.
"Don't put your dog in a cage. You've got to keep them from fighting or whatever," said McGuire. "But you know you stay out of people's business."
According to WBZ, neighbours had also said they were scared of the dogs, who they said often barked loudly.
Earlier this year, a little boy saved his younger sister from a pit bull attack.
At the end of June, the children's mom, Rebecca Chitwood, says a fully grown pit bull dog broke out of a neighbour's yard and into the one the one where Lillian was playing in.
The incident occurred on Monday (WBZ)Her brother Nicholas' quick actions saw him kick the dog while getting his sister Lillian to safety and keeping her out of the way after the animal had bitten down on her face and neck.
The attack left the six-year-old with extensive nerve damage and it's thought she might require further medical attention.
Their mother told news station WNEM: "When I got the call, I just dropped everything and sped all the way to the hospital."
She added that she was told over the phone her daughter had been attacked by a dog, but not told the extent of it.
She continued: "To me, that could mean anything. It could be a couple of puncture wounds, it could be what she's experiencing now, it could've been even worse."
Speaking after the incident, Nicholas revealed to WNEM that his reason for diving in against the dog as he said: "I didn't want her to die."
