Let's all say happy birthday to Azy! The orangutan turned the big 4-7 recently at the Indianapolis Zoo in Indianapolis, Indiana and he did so in style, chomping down on a delicious birthday cake pop. But the pop was just the first part of the orangutan's birthday meal.
Who doesn't like a special meal on their big day? Especially if you're going to reach 47 years old, that's a huge milestone! Azy deserves to live it up.
Azy's caretakers went big for the big day. They even threw the orangutan a "Winter Wonderland" themed party! And by party, we mean they prepared some truly tasty treats. And Azy got to eat them all by himself.

"Join us in wishing Azy the orangutan a happy 47th birthday!" the zoo wrote in the caption. "Our keepers celebrated his special day with a Winter Wonderland themed party with mashed potato cake pops, ice cakes, whipped cream snowflakes and a banner."
Wow, what a soiree! We wish we were invited, we love mashed potato cake pops!
People in the comments section were so in love with this sweet guy. "Hims eating the whipped cream off just like a lot of humans do," gushed one person. "He saw the 47 and said 'don't mind if I do' so sweet," another commenter praised. "This is me sneaking snacks in bed while my husband sleeps," joked one person. "The handsomest boy! And mashed potato pops are genius!" exclaimed someone else.
It's time to book your next trip to Indianapolis, we have to say happy birthday in person after all! If you want to join us in visiting Azy, you can see him at the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center. The center is home to many other orangutans too! Like Basan, Charly, Katy, Lucy, Max, Mila, Nicky, Rocky, and Sirih. The list goes on and on! In fact, the zoo claims that the center is home to the largest group of orangutans in any American zoo.
That sounds like music to our ears! It's also a place where anyone can learn more about these majestic creatures. They also do research and conservation work so that more orangutans can live in safety and peace.
If you can't make it to Indianapolis, why not head to your local zoo? Your zoo might have their own orangutans! In which case you could be supporting your local animals. What could possibly be better than that?
