English bulldogs and French bulldogs were admired for their stubby and wrinkly selves as owners walked them down the red carpet.
The winner of the best English bulldog competition was 4-year-old Frankie. His owners Karla Alvarado and Fernando Anguiano of the San Fernando Valley celebrated with lots of pets and love.
Owner David Valle, from South Gate, also celebrated with his winner, 2-year-old Rocco, who was the best French bulldog at the show.
The event is hosted by bulldog enthusiast Justin Rudd's nonprofit Haute Dogs, which aims to help inspire better dog ownership practices and get dogs adopted into their forever homes. All proceeds benefit Rudd's Community Action Team, which organizes events, including monthly beach cleanups, the Interfaith Blessing of the Animals and more.
Besides the bulldog contest, there were 11 other categories at Sunday's event, in which all breeds could participate, including best senior dog, and most handsome and prettiest dog.
Best in show was a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix named Noodle, who was carried by owner Arlon Tanzer from Los Angeles.
Ella Fitzgerald, a 13-year-old black Labrador, won the prize for best senior day. Owners Jerry and Cheryl Jeffery of Long Beach were proud.
Smiles were on many faces, from spectators to bulldogs.
