Pug Who Wanted 'Pup Cup So Bad' Distraught After Going To Wrong Drive-Thru

Dogs are quick to pick up on habits. Whether it's the same route they take during walks or trips in the car to the vet, they tend to remember, and for one dog, drive-thrus hold special meaning.

A dog owner known on TikTok as @geemariee__ went to the McDonald's drive-thru with her pug, Khloi, in the passenger seat. To Khloi, every drive-thru looks the same—order at the little box, move forward and be handed a magical treat. She expected to get her usual pup cup because the drive-thru looked similar to Starbucks, but her world quickly turned upside down.

The owner tried explaining to her dog in the February 10 video that she would not be getting a pup cup because they weren't at the right location. That's when Khloi brought on the waterworks. Shaking in disappointment, Khloi whimpered.

She stared at the drive-thru window with confusion. She couldn't believe her owner would betray her and go somewhere without a treat.

The caption reads: "She wanted a pup cup so bad."

Khloi isn't the only pet obsessed with pup cups, as the special whipped cream or ice cream treats have grown in popularity over the last several years. But are these tasty treats safe to give to pets?

A veterinarian told Great Pet Care that pup cups are safe in moderation. These treats are generally nontoxic to dogs; however, some canines may not be able to tolerate dairy. The vet said dogs can experience an upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea or loss of appetite after eating a pup cup.

The TikTok video became an instant hit, bringing in over 29.6 million views, 5.7 million likes and 16,200 comments as of Thursday. People couldn't get over the dog's drama for the treat. They called it a "pup cup tantrum."

"She is feining for that pup cup," said a viewer, while a second commented: "She's stressing out!"

Another added: "Omg my dog was the same but the employee heard him crying and told me they have pup cups you just have to ask!"

Others demanded this owner apologize to Khloi and that she go straight to Starbucks to get the dog a pup cup, which she did. She shared in a separate video that they went immediately after McDonald's to get Khloi's treat. The owner wrote in the caption that Khloi "always gets her way!"

Newsweek reached out to @geemariee__ via TikTok for additional information.
