CNY SPCA Pet Of The Week: Mario The Canine Casanova

Mario doesn't look Italian, but he's a canine Casanova!

Mario came to the shelter as a stray in July. He's forty-three pounds and about seven years old. He's a little timid when you first meet him, but once he comes around, he's very devoted.

Mario would do well as the only dog and would do best with older, respectful kids. He loves to sniff and explore. He's also very food-motivated and loves to learn.

If you're looking for a doggy Don Juan, look no further than Mario!

LITTLE SMILE. THIS IS DIOR. LIKE CHRISTIAN DIOR. JOINING US WITH THE PET. LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME IS KATIE FLORY FROM THE MARYLAND SPCA. HE'S ADORABLE. HE IS? I KIND OF FELL IN LOVE ON THE WAY OVER. HE'S TWO YEARS OLD. VERY SWEET. AND HE ACTUALLY HAS A GREAT HISTORY WITH CHILDREN. OH, THAT'S GOOD. SO HE'LL DO WELL IN ALMOST ANY FAMILY. I WILL SAY HE'S A LITTLE SHY. I THINK TODAY HAS ALSO BEEN A LOT OF FIRSTS FOR HIM. HE SAID FIRST CAR RIDE. FIRST CAR RIDE. FIRST ELEVATOR. AND HE'S HE'S VERY TV DEBUT. YES. AND DEFINITELY, AS WE CAN SEE, NEEDS SOME GROOMING. AND THAT'S SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU'RE ADOPTING IS THE NEEDS OF GROOMING WITH THE ANIMAL THAT YOU ADOPT. THIS GUY NEEDS TO BE BRUSHED AND REALLY COULD HAVE A SHAVE DOWN SO THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE LITTLE MATS IN HIS EARS. RIGHT. AND HE NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO SEE TOO. YES, HE'S GOING TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON THERE TO PROTECT HIM AROUND THERE. SO YOU DON'T KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT HIM. BUT YOU DO KNOW HE'S GOOD WITH KIDS. HE'S TWO YEARS OLD. HE'S NEUTERED. HE IS HE'S NEUTERED AND REALLY HE LOVES LAPS. I CAN SEE THAT NOW. HE WANTS TO GET UP AND CHECK THINGS OUT, SEE WHAT HE IS. YEAH, I THINK HE WOULD REALLY DO WELL IN ALMOST ANY FAMILY. GOOD BOY. JUST GOT TO GO SLOW. AND YOU HAVE A BIG EVENT COMING UP. WE DO. IT'S A HOLIDAY. HOLIDAY VILLAGE. THIS IS ON NOVEMBER. YES. NOVEMBER 16TH, FROM 11 TO 3. AND IT'S OUR TAKE ON PHOTOS WITH SANTA AND THE GRINCH. OKAY, BUT THERE'S GOING TO BE SO MUCH MORE. WE HAVE A LAW COURSE OVER 30 DIFFERENT VENDORS, SO YOU CAN COME OUT, HAVE YOUR PICTURE TAKEN WITH SANTA OR THE GRINCH OR BOTH AND REALLY HAVE A FUN DAY. BUT BRING YOUR PET ALONG AND GET READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS. IS IT RIGHT THERE AT THE SPCA? NO, IT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO BE AT THE BALTIMORE PENINSULA, WHICH IS A GREAT NEW AREA. IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN OUT THERE, AND WE'RE EXCITED TO DO IT. WHERE IS THAT? SO IT'S MORE SOUTH AREA OF BALTIMORE DOWN ACROSS FROM CITY GARAGE IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH WHERE THAT. SO IT'S A NICE BIG SPACE FOR YOU GUYS TO BE ABLE TO. OH YEAH. BIG SPACE AND REALLY BE ABLE TO TO SHOWCASE PETS AND LOVE FOR THEM. AND THERE'S NOT A TON TO DO. AS WE GET CLOSER TO CHRISTMAS. SO THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO GET CHRISTMAS GIFTS AGAIN. GET YOUR HOLIDAY CARD READY. WE HAD RUN A STORY YESTERDAY ABOUT SCAMMERS RIGHT NOW TARGETING PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR PETS, AND THEY'RE GETTING THEIR REAL NAMES AND THEIR REAL NUMBERS ONLINE. HAVE YOU GUYS DEALT WITH THAT? WE HAVE AND WE HAVE PEOPLE THAT WILL CALL AND LET US KNOW ABOUT THIS. WHAT I WOULD TELL ANYBODY IS IF SOMEBODY IS SAYING THAT THEY HAVE YOUR PET, TAKE PRECAUTIONS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU'RE MEETING IN A SAFE PLACE. NEVER GIVE THEM MONEY. ANYBODY WHO REALLY FINDS A LOST ANIMAL WANTS TO REUNITE THEM AND YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE CALLING THEM, TELLING THEM WE'VE GOT YOUR PET. AND IN ORDER TO GET YOUR PET BACK, YOU MUST PAY NO UMPTY MILLION DOLLARS. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY NOT. AND YOU CAN ALWAYS CHECK THE WEBSITES. ASKED FOR A PICTURE. NEVER MEET BY YOURSELF. CHECK THE SHELTERS. BUT NO, WE'RE NOT GOING TO CALL YOU. WE'RE NOT GOING TO SAY THAT YOU OWE A BUNCH OF MONEY BEFORE YOU CAN GET YOUR ANIMAL BACK. WE WANT TO REUNITE PEOPLE AND THEIR ANIMALS. COLD HEARTED, HEARTLESS INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE DOING THAT, PREYING ON THE SADNESS OF PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR PETS. WELL, LET'S HOPE DIOR GETS A FAMILY. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADOPT HIM, YOU CAN CONTACT THE MARYLAND SPCA BY CALLING THE NUMBER ON YOUR SCREEN.

ANIMAL CONNECTION: Celebrate 'DemoCATS & RePUPlicans' At The SPCA Thrift Store

As Americans rally around their political favorites this week, the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare invites you to set party lines aside for a night of camaraderie in support of a different kind of candidate: shelter cats and dogs in need of homes. Join us on Monday, Nov. 4, from 6-8 p.M., for DemoCATS & RePUPlicans, an SPCA Thrift Store Holiday Party, where shopping truly saves lives.

With refreshments, raffles and exclusive discounts, this holiday shopping party promises both a great time and a meaningful impact. Tickets are $10 in advance, which doubles as a 10% discount coupon for event-night purchases, or $20 at the door. All proceeds support the SPCA Albrecht Center's mission to rehome homeless pets in our community and provide affordable veterinary care for all.

This year's theme highlights the connection between people's politics and their pet preferences. While nearly half of U.S. Households have a pet, studies suggest that political affiliations may play a role in whether we choose dogs or cats. Research indicates that Democrats are more likely to own cats, while Republicans lean toward dogs. Regardless of your party, every pet deserves a home, and we have plenty of DemoCATS and RePUPlicans looking for one.

Every purchase at the SPCA Thrift Store Holiday Party helps fund essential shelter services, covering food, medical expenses, enrichment, and other needs to prepare pets for adoption. It's a direct way to support the care of homeless pets while enjoying a fantastic night of deals and prizes. Additionally, you'll find unique, high-quality merchandise – perfect for holiday shopping with a purpose.

The SPCA Thrift Store motto, "Where Shopping Saves Lives," isn't just a tagline; it's the driving force behind every purchase. Supporting our thrift store enables us to care for homeless pets in our animal shelter and provide affordable veterinary care to the public so that owned pets also receive the medical attention they need.

Whether you're a DemoCAT or a RePUPlican, everyone is welcome at the Thrift Store party and at the SPCA Albrecht Center, where we have loving cats and dogs waiting for a "seat" in your home. Visit our shelter at 199 Willow Run Road or browse available pets online at LetLoveLive.Org to meet your match.

Together, let's ensure every animal has the chance for a safe, happy life. Purchase tickets at LetLoveLive.Org and mark your calendar for November 4th for an evening of fun, philanthropy, and shared love for animals. By attending DemoCATS & RePUPlicans, you're casting your vote for compassion for animals in need.
